1st cold and 30 week highlights

Well.....I'm moving on up to another month! I turned 7 months on Sunday! Mommy and Daddy can't believe how fast time has flown by and before they know it I'll be a toddler running around this household and causing trouble (I know it's super hard to believe)! It's been another busy week, except this week had a couple bumps along the way. Nonetheless, let's get down to business and share what I've been up to this past week.

Here are my 30 week highlights:
-I officially turned 7 months! I weigh 21.7 lbs (with clothes and diaper) and am 28 1/4 in long.

-Well with 7 months came 7 sniffles times 10000. This week is the first time I've experienced a cold and it's been a nagging one to boot. Thursday I woke up in the middle of the night (which I haven't done since I have been 8 wks old), because I really needed my Mom and didn't feel well at all. After snuggling for a couple hours in her arms, she put me back to bed but this was only the beginning of my troubles. Thursday I had an okay day and that night slept like normal until about 5, when yet again I needed my Mom. She snuggled with me for a bit, but then noticed that I was really warm so she stuck this thing under my arm pit (which I didn't care for) and said I had a temp of 102. I ate breakfast around 7 and tried to play a little, but I just felt terrible and wanted to sleep. Mom called the dr to take me in since I was running a fever, had a runny nose, fussy and was very very lethargic. They told M&D to keep me hydrated and let me rest; luckily no ear infection thing. I took a 2 hour nap in my Mom's arms when we got home and just had a snugly day with her. She is really great medicine and finally started feeling better on Saturday. Sunday rolled around and for some reason my nose keeps dripping this green stuff out (of which Mom either wipes it off or takes this bulb thing and suctions part of my brains out---I really can't stand either one of these things being done to me) and I started to develop a nagging cough. So today we went back to the dr and now I'm taking this pink stuff (Mom says it's called Amoxicillin, I call it "Nasty, Nasty") and we're hoping this helps dry up my nose and clears my chest of all this nasty garbage. This is been a pretty hard weekend on me, but I'm getting better and am very thankful that I went 7 months without getting a cold.

-At the Little Gym I absolutely loved the parachute that we got to play with. It was full of bright colors and was so much fun to chew on and shake up and down. I didn't particularly care to be put in the middle and pulled in a circle though; don't you think M&D know by now that I need to sit up because I'm a big boy and really don't like to lie on my back.

-I am working oh so hard to pull myself up on my toys. Mommy gives me a little boost and I do the rest.

-On Wednesday I got to try out my new ride (my stroller/wagon that goes on the bike) for the first time. I napped the whole time we were on the walk, but really did enjoy riding in my little tent on wheels.

-So I have no intention of crawling in the near future, but have figured out if I want to get an object that is behind me I can move my legs and feet in the direction I want to go do and turn on my behind. Mom likes to make me work to get things, which is very frustrating but I'm slowly figuring out ways to get what I want. I wish she would understand that it would be much easier if she just gave me what I wanted.

-Along with doing a circle on my behind, I will occasionally scoot on it too. I am slowly grasping the concept of hands on the ground then pull/push my behind. Again, would be much easier if things just came to me and I didn't have to go to them!

-If you have it.....I need it! Plain and simple! I am constantly trying to grab at about everything I see and have a love for pulling my Mom's hair. She wore it all down one night, oh what a big mistake that was for her. Seriously Mom your curls are so tempting to pull and eat!

-Mommy cleaned out my closet the other day. Most of the clothes she packed away were 6-9 month clothes. M&D can't believe how fast I fly through clothes; oh if they only knew that I'm going to be just as big as my Dad (which means we're going to go through a lot more clothes as a grow to reach his size).

-I started on Vol 2 of Baby Can Read. I love doing my flash cards and books with M&D. I especially like watching my videos; the instant I hear the feet and here the girls voice I just laugh, sit back and learn.

-At the beginning of last week I went to Gold's again with Mommy. The kids once again wore me out and I was out like a light when Mom came to get me. At least I was good the whole time so Mommy could build up some muscles to carry me around.

-So I got Mom a Valentine's Day balloon last week, but I really got it for myself (don't you know babies are very selfish). I love to sit and play with it all the time. Whether it's chewing on the yellow weight thing or trying to eat the balloon, I have a ball and could play with it for over 5 min which is a long time in my world.

-Grandma McBride got me a toy that has little things that pop up. Mommy insist on opening them all the time, while I shut them. Doesn't she understand that they're supposed to be closed!

-I love to stand! I attempt to stand by myself, but don't get very far as I usually fall into Mom's arms or lean forward into my toy. I do have the one handed balancing act down and before long will figure out the balancing on two feet without any support soon too.

-I could stand all day and play with my toys, but if you put me on my stomach I will roll almost instantly or cry because I really don't care to be in that position. This is why M&D are right about the fact that I will probably walk before I crawl.

-Mom has me sleeping on the boppy to help me breath and not cough so much, so far it seems to be helping.

-M&D have switched my schedule around just a little bit so my eating times line up with theirs since I will be eating some things from their plate soon and it would be nice for all of us to eat supper together. I eat breakfast with Mom at 8, lunch with M&D at 11:30/11:45, a snack bottle at 2 (5 oz), supper at 5 with M&D, and of course my bottle right before bed. I seem to really enjoy this schedule and don't take as much milk at night, which is a really good thing (or at least that's what my Mom says).

-Here's what I typically eat in a day: Breakfast: 5 oz breast milk, 2-3 tbsp fruit, 3 tbsp cereal. Lunch: 5-6 oz breast milk, 2-3 tbsp veggies, 3 tbsp cereal. Snack: 5 oz breast milk. Supper: 5 oz breast milk, 2-3 tbsp fruit, 2-3 tbsp veggies, 2 tbsp cereal in my fruit/veg. Night Bottle: 12 oz breast milk.

-My naps are about the same as usual. One in the morning 30-60 min and one in the afternoon 1-2 hr. I sleep about 11 1/2 hrs at night.

-Mentally I'm developing so fast, compared to physically which is causing me to get very frustrated at times. I know exactly what I want and what I want to do with it, but don't know how to do it yet. It won't be long before I figure all this out, but until then I'm probably going to fuss a little more because I just can't get it.

-M&D will probably kill me for writing this, but what can I say I'm a baby! Well I had my first.....blow out! It only took 7 months for this to happen too. Luckily it was in my high chair and everything was able to washed and cleaned up. I kind of thought it was funny seeing M&D figure out what I had done!

-My fine motor skills are developing so fast and I love figuring out how things work and messing around with my hands.

-"Dadadadadadad----ahhhggguuu-dadadadada," I must repeat this about 100 times a day.I'm definitely part McBride that's for sure, because I could talk all day long!

Alright, I better head to bed since technically M&D think I'm sound asleep right now! I can't wait to see what new things I'll be up to this week!

Never a dull moment & 29 week highlights!

There's truly never a dull moment in my life anymore. I keep M & D hopping all the time and am growing and developing every minute. It seems like one day I'm not doing something and then the next I'm doing it nonstop. I can't believe next week I'll be 7 months old! Every day is full of lots of playing, laughing, eating, and sleeping.....life is really great! And with my never ending adventures here are my 29 week highlights:

-At the Little Gym I left Mommy, Daddy, and the teacher baffled that I would rather roll to my left going up hill than to my right going down hill. What can I say, I have a mind of my own already!

-This week at the Little Gym I did get better at grabbing the rings, loved playing with the bells and a scarf. My bells and scarf were completely soaked by the end of the class. I played in the big tractor tire and loved being rocked back and forth; I could have stayed in there the whole class.

-I went to Gold's Gym for the first time. M & D finally decided it would be okay if they took me to the gym daycare a couple times a week while they workout. I did great and even fell asleep right at my nap time, despite all the kids laughing and playing.

-Grandma Tina and Annie watched me Friday night so M & D could go out on a date. I did great for them until I started to miss M & D and was ready for my bath, bottle, and bed. Annie loves to push me around in my walker and could entertain me hours.

-Saturday morning we went out for breakfast, of which I did great and found it amusing to lean back in my highchair to watch all the people walk by. Everybody always comments on how cute I am and my beautiful blue eyes! I'm definitely going to be a hit with all the gals with my blue eyes and blonde hair!

-M & D decided it was time to move me up to a bigger car seat. They wanted one that they could get me into and out of easier. The car seat I'm in right now is kind of a tight squeeze for me; what can I say, "I'm a big boy?!" So M & D bought me a new seat, but haven't installed them yet. I can't wait to take my first ride in it.

-At church this week I was the only baby in my age group, which made me feel like the King, since I had two gals taking care of me. Of course when M & D came to pick me up, they bragged about how well behaved I was, as if I would be anything else expect my parents:)

-I celebrated my 1st Valentine's Day! Mommy and Daddy spoiled me with lots of love like usual and made me my 1st Valentine. I even got my Mommy a special gift (a balloon, filled chocolates, and a big stuffed heart of which Daddy calls Dr. V)! I like to do tummy time on it and eat at his noise.

-Brenda and Jacob babysat me Valentine's evening, while M & D went out for a nice dinner. I did great and love playing with Jacob.

-This past week I started watching the 2010 Winter Olympics with M & D. I'm wondering when I can try out for the Biatholon!

-I move all over the place in my walker. If I see something that looks like it should be mine, I will find a way to get to it.

-I have found a new love: pulling on my Mommy's hair. I know she pulls it back all the time in hopes that I won't grab at it, but I love to pull it out....what can I say?! Her and Daddy can't believe the grip I have when it comes to holding onto something.

- Just call me "Little Raptor!" My razzing noises are back and M & D think I sound like a little dinosaur. Some days I do it more than others, but when I get in the mood I can do it nonstop all day long.

-I can pick up the broken pieces of puffs with my hands and eat them. I used to just rake them towards me, but I've finally figured out how to pick them up and get them to my mouth.

-I am to the stage of "If you take it away and I think it should be mine, I will cry!" I especially do this with some of my favorite toys like Zork, my phone, and the giraffe that I get to hold while I get a clean diaper.

-I got to go sledding again with the family. We didn't stay outside too long, because it was freezing and winding.

-Believe it or not I love to go to the grocery store and am actually good the whole time we're there. The bright lights, all the different colors, and friendly people make me smile and laugh the whole time I shop with Mommy.

-I've officially dropped my evening nap. I take about a 30-60 min nap in the morning (10:30-11:30) and a 60-120 min nap in the afternoon (2-4). M & D moved up my bath to 7:00 and go to bed about 8:00. I usually wake up at 7:30, but just hang out in my crib until about 8:00 when my two favorite peps come get me up and ready for the day.

-I continue to eat like a horse and continue to baffle everyone when I take at least 14 oz at night. I've even taken 18 oz sometimes. Mommy is trying to feed me a little more during the day in hopes that I won't eat so much at night, but I really don't want to eat much more during the day. Let's just face it.....I'm going to be big.

-Mommy & Daddy now sign: Milk, More, Eat, All Done, Drink, Hungry. They just started drink and hungry. I'm starting to catch onto Milk and Eat, big surprise I know:)

-M & D are really trying to get me to crawl or even move towards my toys, but I'm so smart that I will just grab onto the blanket and pull it towards me in order to get the toy. What can I say, I use my resources wisely!

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”-1 John 4:10

My 28th week was filled with great highlights!

Yet again I've had a very busy week and am growing and developing by the minute! M&D can't believe how fast I'm growing and Daddy continues to tell me each day how, "I'm really starting to look like a little human (& my Daddy, but he won't say it out loud)." Now onto what I've been up to this past week.

28 week highlights:
-I went out to eat with M&D for breakfast a couple times this week and even supper too. I did great as always and sat in the high chair like a good little boy the whole time they ate........M&D have no idea what they have coming these next couple months and years; I'm just putting up a huge decoy right now.
-I started my classes at 'The Little Gym.' I absolutely love them and can't wait to go every Wednesday. I loved watching the other babies and had a ball doing all the activities.
-M&D bought a stroller (that M can jog with)/wagon (that goes behind their bikes) to take me along on their bike rides. It's been too chilly and snowy to try it out yet, but it looks like lots of fun.
-Susan (the parents as teachers lady) came to play with me for awhile and tell my parents how perfect I am (oh wait I think that's what they told her......:)). Anyway, Susan let me play with a big metal bowl, soap dish, some books, all while she chatted with my parents and did a mini eval on how I'm developing mentally and physically. She, along with everybody else, always comments on how well I sit by myself.
-Saturday morning I got my first hair cut. Mommy thought it would be a good idea to get my "Mohawk hair" trimmed up so it was the same length as the rest of my hair. I sat up all by myself in the chair and just wanted to chew on the cape the whole time. M&D (well actually everybody that sees me) can't believe how much I look like a little boy and not a 6 month old baby. I'm clearly going to have blonde thick and slightly wavy hair.
-It snowed enough on Saturday that M&D took me out sledding. I couldn't stop laughing and smiling at Mommy and Rambo running around and playing in the snow. Mommy made sure I wore my cool sunglasses to protect my eyes and I even got to sled down the hill for the first time.
-I always seem to be the hit wherever I go. Saturday night we went over to Jenna's for a surprise graduation party for Jason. Everybody wanted to hold and play with me, but all I wanted to do was play with my red plastic cup Mommy gave to me. Mommy let me drink some water of which I loved of course.
-It warmed up enough on Sunday that M&D took me on a walk after we got home from church. At church the caregivers put me in an exercise saucer where I found a thing that spins just like the one at my house. I played with it nonstop and had a ball with the lovely gals and other babies.
-Sunday night I watched my first Super Bowl XLIV. The Colts ended up losing to the Saints in what turned out to be a pretty good game (31-17). It's the first time the Saints have ever won a Super Bowl.
-M&D continue to sign to me all the time. I've now been introduced to 'More, Milk, Eat, All Done.'
-M&D decided to try moving my bed time up an hour and dropping my evening nap (leaving me with just a morning and afternoon nap). I did great and didn't even give an eye rub during my usual nap time. I think I might like this schedule, but I guess we we'll see.
-I can stand up holding onto my toys for a couple minutes. My legs are so strong and M&D are convinced I'm going to walk before I even attempt to crawl.
-I can officially move around in my walker. I move backwards and to the side better than go forward; this actually makes for an interesting way to move about this world.
-I get to Sypke with Gma, Gpa, and Jenna a couple times a week and show off how much I'm growing and developing by the day and sometimes even by the minute.
-Anybody that sees me insist that I look exactly like my Daddy! I love seeing Daddy's reaction any time he hears someone say this about me. I swear he can't smile any bigger:)

A very eventful week and 27 week highlights

Wow! I'm another week older, bring on 28...can you believe it?! Mommy and Daddy can't that's for sure. As you probably figured out by now I, Jr, am writing in place of my mom again. She seems to be busy taking care of me, my Daddy, the pup, the house, the bills, cleaning etc. etc....you get the point that she's a very busy lady. Nonetheless I thought I would help her out by writing on her blog about me and who knows me better than me of course. Also I'm gaining my independence and think I should take over writing about what goes on in my world.....this could get very interesting to say the least!

So last week became a blur when Mommy and Daddy got the phone call Tuesday morning that sent them for a loop. While I was stirring around in my crib, Mommy's cell phone was vibrating on the dresser right before 8. Both Mommy and Daddy didn't think anything of it and decided to just let it vibrate, however then the house phone rang and then they knew it must be something important. Daddy picked up the phone and Uncle Jeff was on the other end. He told Mommy that Grandma was in the hospital emergency room. Uncle Jeff proceeded to explain that Gma hadn't been feeling good and passed out in the middle of the night. She laid in bed for quite sometime and then finally decided they better head to the hospital when her head was pounding, her left arm and chest hurt. Once they got to the hospital they did some blood work only to find out Gma's hemoglobin was a 5, which is extremely low considering a 12 is on the low end. So they started a blood transfusion and called for the helicopter to take her to a bigger hospital for better care. They flew Gma to the heart hospital in Lincoln, since her heart readings were showing irregularities. They knew she had to be bleeding inside, but they just weren't sure what was going on. Great Gpa Wiest had a hemoglobin problem and eventually went to see Jesus because of it. This had everybody praying that it wasn't some blood disorder that we were just finding out about. Once they were in Lincoln they ran a lot of tests on my Gma and came to conclude she had a bleeding ulcer in her tummy. They were able to fix it for her, but wanted to keep her in the hospital and watch her since she had a blood transfusion and was receiving a very strong ant-acid.

So, as soon as Mommy got off the phone, the whirl wind day began. Mommy got our tickets bought and both her and Daddy started to pack us up for NE. Gma Tina came over to feed and play with me at lunch time so Mommy and Daddy could finish up packing and we could head to the airport. I never realized how much junk I require, but somehow Mommy and Daddy seem to manage all the bags, stroller, car seat, etc. Mommy thinks her and Daddy look like the beginning of the hit comedy show Yes Dear, where they're walking pushing a stroller with one arm, carrying a kid in the other, and dragging bags and toys behind them. I did great on the plane and was fascinated by the lady we were sitting by. Mommy gave me a "cookie" (aka a teething biscuit) to keep me entertained and happy while we were cruising around with the Care Bears. I met Kaylee Krug at the airport by chance and of course my parents ooohhed and aaahhed over how little and cute she was. Nate liked how interactive I was and couldn't believe how fast we little babies grow up! Daddy had quite the ordeal trying to rent a car, but somehow in the end we ended up in a pickup headed to Lincoln to see Gma, Gpa, Uncle PJ and Aunt Shan. Gma was super excited to see me and I think I'm the best medicine you can find! After I took part of my bottle, we headed to a near by hotel where I played in the big bath tub, which I absolutely loved and even posed for a couple pics. Mommy always has that camera out snapping shots of me. I finished my bottle and off to bed I went. Mommy, Daddy, Gpa, Uncle PJ and Shan, stayed up eating Wendy's and talking for awhile. When Mommy and Daddy finally came to bed in the same room I was in, I let them know that I need my own room! I had a blast waking them up by putting my arms straight out and running my fingers along the rails on both sides, causing the coolest sound ever......"Tink, tink, tink, tink, tink......." Apparently, Mommy and Daddy weren't to fond of the noise, so they taped some towels along the side and made a make shift bumper in the middle of the night, in the dark. Oh, how much fun I have making them earn their parent paycheck!

The next day, we ate breakfast and headed over to see Gma. I was a definite hit with all the nurses and can melt a person's heart by just flashing them a HUGE Gerber smile and batting my BIG blue eyes:) I did great the whole day and even napped like a champ!

On Thursday, Gma was dismissed from the hospital and we were headed to go see Great Gma and Gpa Carriker. They're always excited to see us and Daddy couldn't wait to play cards with them. When we got there everything was going great. We had brought them lunch and Daddy were busy feeding me while they ate. Mommy started the solids with me, when we noticed Gma wasn't feeling very good. After finally making a deal with her, Gma decided it would be okay to head to the hospital with Daddy and Gpa, while Mommy and I stayed at their house. When they got to the hospital Daddy called us to say Gma had a bp of over 200. We were so grateful we decided to get her to a dr when we did. They finally got her bp under control and decided to move them into an assistant living home where they can get the care they need. Gpa isn't too happy about the decision, but it's the best thing for the both of them. I got to meet some of my great aunts and uncles at Pizza Hut. Aunt Shirley and Bonna were so happy to meet me, then again who isn't. After pizza we headed to go see Gma in the hospital. She was super excited to see me and always says, "Let me see that boy!" We headed back to Gma and Gpa's house so I could get a bath, bottle, and then off to sleep in my car seat while Daddy drove us to Omaha so we could make our morning flight. I slept the whole time to Omaha and even when they were putting me in the pack in play I stayed sound asleep!

Friday morning we were up and at em early so we could return the car and make our flight. My oatmeal didn't settle the best with me, which caused me to throw it up. However, I felt great afterwards and was ready to fly again. There was a little delay at the airport, but Mommy and Daddy managed to keep me entertained and happy. I slept the whole time on the plane, despite the 2 yo in front of me who made lots of noise and was Mommy and Daddy's worst nightmare. Since Mommy and Daddy already had the sitter lined up, they just kept her and they headed to a late lunch and movie while I played with Shannon. I didn't know about going to her at first and for the first time I didn't really want my parents to leave, however as soon as I got busy playing and eating life was great and I forgot that Mom and Dad weren't even there.

Saturday was full of Mommy and Daddy cleaning, doing laundry, trying to relax a little from the busy week, Daddy doing rehab, taking care of me (which is a full time job), and then headed to church in the evening. I do great at daycare and all the girls think I'm super cute!

Sunday and Monday went by way too fast and now here we are and I'm already 28 weeks today! Today I have the sniffles, a cough, and just want to snuggle with my Mommy and Daddy. Hopefully this is nothing and I'm back to breathing normal again soon.

Overall, Mommy and Daddy are still trying to recover from an emotional, physical, mental demanding past week. I continue to grow like a McBride and Carriker! Everybody can't believe how big and strong I am.......I'm truly going to be like my Daddy in more than one way. Now it's time to get to the highlights and then off to play!

27 week highlights:
-I absolutely love to roll! If you put me on my tummy I will instantly roll over to my back (and it's always to the left every time). So much for tummy time! I think I'll probably take my first steps before I attempt to crawl. I like to mix things up a bit and do things at my own pace and order.
-I love to sit and play with my toys all the time.
-I continue to eat what my Mama puts in front of me, which is about the same amount and types of food each day. I think I've tried almost all the veggies and fruits. Mommy got a book full of new ways to make baby food, so once I finish what she has bought she'll be introducing them to me....oh how I can't wait! I tried mangoes for the first time the other day and didn't know quite what to think. After about the second bite, I was loving them!
-I got to fly on a airplane again! This is the 3rd time I've flown somewhere on an airplane. At this rate I'll be racking up the frequent flyer miles and be flying for free the rest of my life.
-Went to NE for the 2nd time. This was an unexpected trip, but I got to see my McBride Grandparnets, my Carriker Great Grandparents, and some aunts and uncles. I'm glad both my Gmas are doing good. I did great the whole trip, especially for being whisked around everywhere and to everybody! Mommy and Daddy say I'm their "lil trooper and pooper!" Oh how they think they're so funny!
-I continue to sleep like a champ (9-8) and have since I was 8 wks old. I nap 3 times a day for about 2-2.5 hrs.
-I graduated to the big tub! YEAH! Mommy and Daddy saw how much I loved splashing in the bath tub at the hotel, so they decided it was time to scrap my lil infant/toddler bath tub and let me sit in the big tub all alone. I love to splash and play with my bath toys.
-If I can see it, I want it! Mommy and Daddy are slowly learning that I need to touch and feel everything. If they only knew this is just the beginning of me grabbing onto things.
-Not only do I grab everything in sight, I also watch everything that goes on. I watch every move anybody makes and am secretly storing all the info so I can replicate it all when I'm just a tad bigger.
-When I was first born everybody commented on how much hair I had and how little I was, but now after 6 months of growing like a McCarriker, they all comment on how big I am, my big blue eyes, and the amount of hair I have. It's crazy how I don't even look like the baby Mommy and Daddy brought home!
-I'm a really happy baby and love to smile/laugh/talk nonstop! Again, this is only the beginning for Mommy and Daddy.
-I'm finally tall enough that I can move my car with my feet. I especially get excited and want to move the car if I see Rambo.
-I love Rambo! I really do. I love to watch him all the time and laugh nonstop when he's running around in the yard playing with his bone and Mommy and I are trying to catch him. Anytime I hear him making noise, I stop what I'm doing and look around watching for him to see what he's up to.
-Mommy and Daddy started making these weird gestures these past couple weeks and I'm slowly starting to catch on. Mommy thought it would be a great idea if they taught me sign, so far they've taught me milk and more.
-I love doing my flash cards and book for the Baby Can Read Program. I also love to watch the video and anytime the feet come on at the beginning I go nuts.
-Lately I've been quite the little helper for Mommy around the house. She loads me up in the wagon and together we haul laundry around.
-Mommy and Daddy took me on the trampoline the other day. It was finally warm enough that I could be outside for about 10 min. I love to be outdoors and especially love playing on the trampoline. I roll around and get to bounce with both Mommy and Daddy.
-Mommy and I take the mail out every morning and go get the mail in the afternoon. Rambo runs and gets the paper, which I think is the funniest thing ever. I really do love being outdoors and having the wind blow in my face!
-Mommy gave me a frozen celery stick to chew on to help with my teeth. I didn't know what to think about it at first, but loved chewing on it after a little bit!
