Packing for our family vacation and 46 week highlights!

Our bags are packed and we're ready for a vacation! Mommy has been busy this past weekend packing us for our trip to Nebraska and Montana. By the time we get back from this trip I will have been on 13 plane rides and visited 6 different states (and lived in 2 thus far). I will have officially met all of my cousins, aunts, uncles, most all of Mommy's McBride)side and been back to where Mommy grew up. I can't wait for Grandpa Joe to take me on a ride on the big green tractor! Anyway, it's going to be so much fun, so off I go to help Mommy finish packing or maybe it's unpacking everything since that's what I love to do now days. Nonetheless, off we go!

46 week highlights:
-I started standing by Scooby for my weekly pic. I still sit by him for one, but now am taking a standing pic each time too.
-I love to throw things into my crib, into my bath tub, into baskets, etc. It doesn't matter what it is I just like to throw/drop things and watch where they go. My favorite places to do this is in my crib and into my bath. Oh the joys of being a little boy!
-I'm doing great with all sippy cups throughout the day and still prefer a little warmed up milk right before bed.
-Mommy and Daddy think it's super funny when I try to nod my head yes. I end up moving my whole body back and forth.
-Skyped with Jenna and Jason, who I haven't seen since their wedding. I impressed them by showing them all my different signs and how I'm toddling around.
-My sign for this week is ear!
-Speaking of ears, I unfortunately have a mild ear infection. I've had a runny nose this past week and Mommy took me in on Monday just to be safe and make sure I could fly. The Dr. told her I had a very mild ear infection in my left ear, so now I get to eat that tasty medicine for the next couple weeks.
-I can take about 10 plus steps between M&D. Every day I gain just a little more confidence in walking and it won't be long and I'll be off.
-When I'm cruising around I've started letting go of whatever I'm holding onto and take a couple steps on my own. I can even get myself turned around and headed in a completely different direction.
-I love to go outside and discover the world. The other day we went outside to play and my face lit up the instance Mommy put me down. I love being outside and I love to toddle around.
-Mommy sent out evites for my 1st birthday party, which is just a little over a month away. We're having a party at my Aunt Gina and Uncle Mark's home in Loveland. I can't wait to be the center of attention!
-Had a blast at the Little Gym show off day. I loved playing with the rings, the big rolling pad, the balls, the bubbles, and flipping around the bar. I started the Little Gym out this Winter a "Bug" at 6 months and graduated into the "Birds" class at 10 months.
-Helped Mommy pack my bags for our big trip this summer. We're headed to see family in Nebraska and Montana for the next couple weeks. I can't wait to meet some of my new cousins and of course see all my grandmas and grandpas.

Jacob standing with Scooby @ 46 wks!

Taking Steps, A New Cousin, & 45 wk highlights

This past week has been a very big week for me........I'm taking steps! Mommy has been working with me a lot and I finally have enough courage to take about 5-10 steps on my own. I've completely mastered the Frankenstein walk and M&D think it's so much fun to watch me waddle along with my arms stretched as wide as they can go. Nonetheless, I get more daring each day and it won't be long before I'm off on two feet running away from Mommy (I wonder if she'll laugh then)!

45 week highlights:

-I'm taking steps all by myself! I can take about 5-10 steps and have even done some side stepping too. Mommy likes to push the lion way out in front of me so I have to walk to get it; of which I always do and will even stop and stand for a few seconds while getting there. M&D love seeing my face light up whenever I take off. Let's just say there's pure JOY and ACCOMPLISHMENT written all over MY face, but THEIRS as well!

-I have a new cousin! Olivia Anne arrived Wednesday, June 2nd. I get to meet her in less than a week and can't wait! Of course I'll probably just end up playing with Jenna, since I tend to be kind of rough on things; what can I say, I'm all boy!

-Kicked the bottle for good! I no longer take any sort of a bottle, just my sippy cup with milk and water all day. Mommy wasn't quite sure how taking my night bottle away would go, but I really had no problem giving up the bottle, it's the cold milk at night that I'm not a big fan of. So needless to say I still get my semi-warmed up milk right before bed.

-I'm getting my 4th tooth (front, top left)! My bottom, front two are growing like crazy. My front, top right one is completely cut through and the left one next to it is almost completely cut through too!

-I can do basic commands and signs! Example: Say dog Jacob= I then pat my leg. Arms up= I put my arms up. Same with clap, mouth, tongue, telephone, etc.

-I got my 3rd haircut! I did great, even when she used clippers on the back of my neck and despite the fact that the lady cutting my hair seemed to take her dandy time.

-Mommy started a new gym last week, so at least 4 days a week I'm going to Lifetime Daycare for an hour or so. Sometimes I do really well, other times I cry the instant Mommy leaves. The past couple days I've played so hard, I've fallen asleep right before Mommy comes to get me.

-I'm into everything and want to climb almost anything. I open drawers as I'm cruising along. I climb on my bigger toys to get to higher things. I will let go of something and take a few steps on my own to get to whatever it is I see and/or want.

-I love to do my words, books, and watch my dvd. I'm so focused when M&D are doing my words and cry the instant they put them away.

-I've even figured out how the flash cards work and try to pull out the tab and push it back all by myself.

-It seems every week I tend to do one sign over any other sign, this week it happens to be "More!" I sign it for more food, more tickles, more words, more play, etc.

-I can now sign "Telephone/hello!" Mommy cracks up every time, and I'm really not sure why because I'm just doing what she told me to do. Nonetheless, she really talks through her hand to me when we're signing/playing telephone.

-I'm a nonstop talker. M&D think it's so much fun to listen to me in the morning just chatter away in my crib.

-I'm still wearing some of my clothes that I wore when I was 6 months old, but am in primarily 12-18 month clothes right now. I'm really taking after my Daddy and starting to lengthen/stretch out; probably going to be long and lean.

-In my growing into a toddler stage, I decided I didn't like fruit (minus applesauce or some baby foods) for a couple days. But now I'm back to eating about everything.

-M&D always put me down wide awake (for both my naps and to go to sleep) and I'm not always ready to go to sleep, so I will walk around my crib, play with my fish tank, pretty much anything not to go to sleep. This can last anywhere from 10-45min. M&D find it very entertaining to watch me through their little camera! Reality TV at it's best!

OLIVIA ANNE & 44 week highlights!

OLIVIA ANNE McBRIDE
June 2, 2010
8 lbs 13 oz 21.5 in

I have another cousin (she makes 7)! Olivia arrived yesterday afternoon and everyone is doing great. I can't wait to meet her in less than 2 weeks. Although Mommy keeps telling me I can't get to close, since I'm kind of rowdy and she's so precious and little. I keep telling Mommy, that Jenna and I will just show her how to be a toddler!

It's been another crazy week (hints why its Thursday and I'm trying to squeeze in time for another weeks blog). I'm literally growing by the minute Mommy says and am doing something new every time she turns around (also what she says all the time too).

44 week highlights:
-I've become quite the expert when it comes to putting things into a container. I love to put my toys in it and then take them out.

-I greet my Mommy every morning standing bright eyed waiting for her to come get me. I started occasionally doing this about two weeks ago, but now do it almost every time I get up in the morning and from each of my naps.

-It seems like every week I really cling onto a certain sign and do it all the time, this week it's been dog. I will be playing, walking around, riding in my car seat and then all of a sudden I think about Rambo and just start signing "dog."

-I not only sign dog almost all day long, but I also try to say what sounds like "Dog" too.

-My new recent trick I like to do is, climbing up onto my toys to get to another toy. Such as climbing on my Cars push toy to get to my table.

-I can climb all the stairs up to our loft with no help from M/D. I absolutely love climbing stairs and do this a couple times a day (I'd probably do it more, but Mommy usually whisks me away before I can get there).

-Not only can I climb all the stairs now, but I can also stand on my own for about 3-5 seconds. Each day I get a little more stable and when I realize I'm standing all by myself, my face lights up with pure joy and a since of accomplishment. It's soooo cool what can I say!

-Speaking of climbing, the instance I'm "loose" I climb the closest thing in sight. As soon as I climb whatever is in sight, I take off cruising. I now climb walls, the patio door, Mommy, the dishwasher, frig, etc.

-I love to climb, but even more I love to push my lion around. Mommy doesn't even have to get out any toys anymore because all I want to do is push my lion around the apartment.

-I've mastered being able to push my lion and my cars push toys at the same time. I also like to push my play table around too. Pretty much if I can push it in any way, I will!

-Mary, my new babysitter, came over and sat with me for a whole afternoon while M&D had some "alone" time. I broke her in pretty well and we had a blast playing and napping all afternoon.

-I started my new Little Gym this week. I'm the youngest in the class (10m-19m), but am definitely interested with all the other little toddlers running around.

-After staring at the seat for over 10 months and kicking the seat, Mommy flipped my car seat.

-Mommy got a new car (an Acadia) and I got a new car seat. Her new ride has some DVD players in it, which I even got to try out the other day. I really enjoyed watching my movie, but wasn't crazy about the headphones. Luckily now Mommy has figured out the surround sound, so I don't have to wear any headphones. My old car seat is going to my buddy Tyler Helming!

-Slowly put surely I'm learning to take steps. I can take 2 steps on my own when walking between M&D.

-Only one bottle to go! I'm down to sippy cups all day long and only take a bottle right before bed.

-Not only am I kicking the bottle, but I'm also kicking the warm milk. Mommy doesn't heat up the milk for me anymore except for my night bottle. I've actually done fairly well with this adjustment.

-Mommy's been giving me more snacks throughout the day, since I seem to be super hungry all the time. Mommy thinks it helped me being happier and helping nap great.

-I've been taking great naps these past couple months. I take anywhere from hour to two hour twice a day. I sleep about 10-11 hours at night.

-I love to go out to eat with M&D do great the whole time.

-Mommy met a distance relative on Facebook and he provided me with a whole history on Mommy's side.

-Celebrated my first Memorial Day weekend by relaxing weekend with M&D. We went to the park right across from our apartments and went to the pool in our apartment complex.

-For whatever reason, I've been spitting up a little more than usually. I never used to spit up at all, but now I seem to spit up some mornings while playing.

-I went swimming with M&D for the first time in our complex pool and loved it!
